If you visit Southern California, La Jolla, located in San Diego county is always worth a visit. The La Jolla shore is a public beach with very kid friendly waves in most areas and sectioned areas for surfers. You can also rent paddle boards and kayaks. Kayaking groups are taken out to the cove. This beach has free parking, several life guard stations, a park, and bathrooms/showers. Parking in the summer is very crowded so try to get there early or late in the day, otherwise you might end up with a long walk. The beach area is also fairly crowded in the summer. The La Jolla shore is a great walking beach with amazing sunsets. It is lined with beautiful homes, the La Jolla Shores Hotel, The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, cliffs and a pier. The tide can get very high limiting how far you can walk. The photos below were taken at very low tide.
Facing the La Jolla cove. The cove is also worth a visit. Great shopping, restaurants, and the children’s pool.
When the tide is low you can walk past the pier.
Or explore near the cove.
